Memories of the Leeds school with a view
St Benedict's R.C. Secondary School boasted views of Kirkstall Abbey and the Aire Valley.
It was opened in February 1965 and was a seat of learning for 390 boys and girls aged between 11 and 15.

It was the third Roman Catholic secondary school to be built in Leeds since the war, the others being St Kevin's and St. John Boscoe. When this photo was taken in June 1966, a fourth, Corpus Christi was in the initial stages of construction.
The three-storey school is now demolished and housing with street names incorporating 'St. Benedict's' have been built on the site, which was on the Leeds and Bradford Road.
