Horsforth St.Margaret's Reds claimed their first victory of the season in a thrilling encounter with Wilsden Warriors.
Both teams attacked at every opportunity and the home side was soon ahead thanks to a Joe Rainford goal. Gilt edged chances followed for Horsforth but Isaac Murray in the Wilsden goal managed to thwart Matthew Raby, Sam Hughes, Joseph Snowdon and Joe Rainford to keep his side in the game.
His efforts were rewarded when Alex Hosty headed the visitor's level from one of several corners at the other end, leaving Horsforth frustrated at the interval. Halftime 1-1.
The home side was determined not to be so wasteful in front of goal in the second half and goals by Joe Rainford, a terrific shot over the keepers head, and Matthew Raby, a cool finish under pressure, put Horsforth 3-1 up.
Brandon Marshall in goal for Wilsden in the second half prevented further scores for Horsforth and Isaac Marshall now playing out, set up a tense final 10 minutes when he ran in from a wide position to smash home an unstoppable shot to make it 3-2.
Horsforth had a few scary moments with Sam Cole and Andrew Parsons clearing away dangerous Wilsden attacks and Alex Fox-Bullivant in the home goal saved two late efforts from Wilsden that left Horsforth running out 3-2 winners.
This win puts the red squad on four points and in 8th place with two games in hand.
