Horsforth St Margaret's Girls under-13s and under-12s kicked off their league campaign at the weekend. Click here for match reports.
The season started on Sunday with the first league games in the West Riding Girls U12 and U13 divisions.

A perfect Sunday morning, grass well cut and the touchline full of supporters. Both teams are still waiting for their new pink strip to arrive from Italy but, in traditional yellow, they both produced good performances.

The under-13s got a very unlucky 1-1 draw against Norristhorpe Bees, after Beth Gresty scored a great early goal, that should have been the first of many. Maisie Sammon was confident playing her first game in goal and Ellie Boden and Beth Pounder were very strong in defence, supported by Abigail Houseman in the second half.

Amy Wetherill, Sarah Calder, Zoe Inman, Aine Donnelly and Brodie Cummins were all excellent in midfield with some strong tackles and excellent passing and running with the ball.

The game was played with a great spirit between the two sides and suggests that we are going to have a good season.

The under-12s achieved a more convincing victory, overcoming Silsden 6-0, with goals from Ellie Martin (3), Grace Boden (2) and Hollie Ainsworth. Molly Leaf looked very comfortable in goal, with Erica Stubbs and Lucy Britton providing a solid defence. Charlotte Crossland ran the midfield with great support from Rebecca Gamble and Roisin Moriarty and Lisa Kennedy made some superb runs down the wings in the second half.

The quality of control and passing was first class and the finishing in front of goal was of the highest standard. Once gain, a great spirit between the teams and great promise for the rest of the season.
