Though the race has changed locations, courses and sponsors over the years, the organising club, Horsforth Harriers has remained constant.
This year the race will be held, as in recent years, from Woodhouse Grove School at Apperley Bridge on the now established course.

The 2009 event has a new sponsor in the form of Horsforth based software company TPP, whose 'Systmone' application is an award nominated application used nationally by healthcare industry professionals.
To celebrate the race's 'silver anniversary', this year all runners completing the run will be presented with a technical sports t-shirt and following on from the Apperley Bridge Canter earlier in the year, there will be sports hydration and nutritional advice from Lucozade. In addition, it is hoped that there will also be a presence from Up & Running who are also sponsors of the race and Treadmill Physiotherapy will be offering massages pre and post run in the Race headquarters.
The barbecue run by the Woodhouse Grove Rugby Section will once again be present, providing runners with pre and post run sustenance – it seems to be a well established fact of running lore that a bacon or sausage sandwich is the ideal post race brunch!
As ever the race hopes to raise significant funds for a local charity, this year the Rawdon based West Yorkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, whose hyperbaric chamber is used to treat both sufferers of Multiple Sclerosis and Cancer alike. The charity was chosen after a member of Horsforth Harriers, who was a volunteer at the centre, became a patient there after being diagnosed with cancer.
Race director, Bob Foulkes, told Horsforth Today: "As ever, we hope to make our race a memorable experience for all runners, by adding as much value to the event as possible and, at the same time, make a contribution that will benefit the local community. We are aware of how lucky we are to be able to run and grateful for the continuing generosity of the running community".
