Horsforth's Lee Spurling is already a star-in-the-making on the golf course. Now he is set to become one off the tee as he is to feature in a Channel Four TV documentary.
The golfing marvel, nickname The Wolf, is not even 12 yet has lost only twice in the last six years.

This week a camera crew from the award-winning Cutting Edge series followed him and dad Ian, who is also his coach, as they went about their daily training routine.

And they even recreated the moment when proud Ian, 43, placed a 1,000-1 bet with bookmakers William Hill that his super son will win a major golfing tournament by the time he is 25.

Directors Alastair Cook and Rob Davis are making a film called My Child Champion due to be screened in January (2009].

Rob told the YEP: "I suppose the general theme is whether the world's best sports players are born or are they made.
"This is a one-off film looking at children in golf, tennis and go-karting.

"These big money sports are getting bigger than they've ever been and the rewards can be huge.

"We are asking what do you do as a parent if you've got a child who's very talented - do you push them into the big money sports or do you hang back?

"We made a similar film about Child Geniuses which turned into a series.
"We hope the same might happen with this and we can follow Lee's progress over the years."

Lee's running total of competition wins is 75 since he began competing aged seven.

Ian said: "Lee has successfully defended his East Anglian Under 12s Championship with 22 putts for 18 holes.

"Even top players in the world only get 26 putts for 18 holes. He is well on the way to becoming a superstar."

The 11-year-old is also nominated for Yorkshire Young Achievers Award by his dad.

The 15th awards, sponsored by McCormicks Solicitors, will be held on November 8 at Elland Road.

They celebrate achievements by people under 35 born, living or working in Yorkshire in the fields of business, sport and the arts, in overcoming adversity and achieving fame and fortune.

Previous award winners include Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, model Nell McAndrew, Kaiser Chiefs, Spice Girl Mel B, cricketer Michael Vaughan and singer Gareth Gates.

There is also a Youngster of the Year award too, to mark the achievements of someone under 12 but Lee is aiming at the Achievement in Sport category.
