Pupils from a Horsforth school got a sneaky peak at Leeds City Council's chambers as part of a question and answer session with the Lord Mayor of Leeds.
Children from Westbrook Lane Primary School quizzed outgoing mayor Councillor Brian Cleasby, viewed the artefacts and gifts presented to the city over the years and were also given an insight into the history of the Lord Mayor's office.
* Click here for more local schools news.Headteacher Joan Kay said: "Our children were really excited and enthusiastic about their visit as it was a wonderful opportunity to see inside the Civic Hall and gain an overview of how the Council works.
"It emphasised the importance of the work of councils whether in school or in a large city.
"The children also had a real insight into the role of the Lord Mayor."
