The unfortunate driver was left with "muddy walk" home after making the mistake of following GPS a little bit too faithfully. The West Yorkshire Police Dogs Twitter account shared photos of the abandoned van yesterday (Monday). They said: "You’d have thought at some point this delivery driver may have started to consider that his sat nav wasn’t taking him on the most ideal route. "Apparently not! "Muddy walk home." Accidents and near misses as a result of following sat navs are not uncommon, with a Direct Line survey from 2008 claiming that one in 50 drivers saying their devices caused or nearly caused an accident. Last year, a man drove into a fast flowing Yorkshire river because his "SatNav said this way." And in 2017, a driver blamed his sat nav after driving in the wrong direction on a motorway and injuring five people in a head-on collision near Leeds. Support the YEP and become a subscriber today.
