The pooches are currently in the care of Dogs Trust Leeds, with many coming from tragic backgrounds. If you are looking to welcome a four-legged friend into your home, the Trust will help you find your perfect match. Here are 11 pups that are currently in need of a permanent home.
1. Rosie - 6-12 months
At only eight months old Rosie has had very little socialisation, but she is very friendly and loves to be around people. She is working on building her confidence and will need to continue training in her new home, which needs to be adult-only. Breed: Staffordshire Cross. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
2. Ginger - 2-5 years old
Ginger is a three year-old Greyhound who has recently retired from a career in racing and is looking for a new home to start a new chapter. He has never lived in a house before so will need some basic training and he is quite shy around new people initially, but very lovable when he comes out of his shell. Breed: Greyhound. 3. Mitzu - 2-5 years old
Mitzu is a real softie and will show his loving, affectionate side once he forms a bond with his new owners. He will need several visits to get to know him properly and as he is quite strong, he is better suited to owners who have experience of owning a large dog breed. Breed: Akita. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
4. Stanley - 2-5 years old
Stanley is a big overgrown puppy at heart and is very eager to learn new things. He can be worried by new faces, so will need a quiet home without too many visitors. He tends to be more worried by men, so introductions should be done gradually. Breed: Pointer - English. Photo: Dogs Trust Leeds
5. Benji - 5-7 years old

6. Milo - 5-7 years old
Milo loves his training and is super friendly, but seems to prefer female friends, so men will need to let him come around slowly. He is quite a sensitive pub so he needs a calm and peaceful home with few visitors, and prefers to be walked in areas away from the hustle and bustle. Breed: Jack Russell Terrier.
