The Sunday School building of the United Reformed Church of St. Mary's-in-the-Wood in July 1994. By this time the whole of the grassland and trees within the walled enclosure had been cleared and the area tarmaced for a car park. This had been done partly because the building had been used as a junior establishment for Wakefield Tutorial College for nearly 50 years by this time, but also because the large church further along Commercial Street was becoming too costly to heat in the depths of winter and so services were then held in the Sunday School building.
