In the forwards it was the same as usual, except for second team prop Adam Pike starting and Frank Pitchford on the subs bench along with utility back Mark Dixon and back row James Barrett.

Each time Knottingley attacked they were adequately closed down without much trouble with good tackling from Stephen Riley, Richard Longstaff, Andy Van Heel and Ian Moule.

Unfortunately, Knottingley got into the Yarnbury half on only three occasions and converted a penalty each time.
Yarnbury had numerous chances over the home side line, but these were not clear and Yarnbury were still confident in the second half.

It was looking like one of those days for the Horsforth side as they seemingly have nothing to play for other than the pride of third place.

Knottingley were constantly offside at rucks and mauls and were fighting for their existence in Yorkshire Two, but the chances squandered by the Horsforth side meant they should have won the game easily.

In the second half, winger Simon Threlfall was grounded touch in goal with good defensive tackling by the Knottingley backs. And after three consecutive penalties, Steven Riley finally got over the line, but in his elation had the ball knocked out of his hands before he could ground the ball.

Pressure told and Yarnbury finally scored with a push over try grounded by Dave Gornell with a good conversion by Stephen Riley.

The final minutes were played out in the Yarnbury half and Paul Rocket went over for the only Knottingley try.
