Tennis: Horsforth set the pace in title quest

Division One champions Horsforth head the Barkston Ash League after opening the season with a hat-trick of victories.
The side have 12 points, their successes including a 64-44 win over Whitkirk.

The victory was secured by the partnership of Rob Berry and Catherine Dodd who won two rubbers and halved a third.

Matt Smyth and Tracy Weaver won two and lost one while Mick Barrow and Lesley Davies took one rubber, lost one and halved the other.

Horsforth's other victories came with a 71-37 victory over Boston Spa and a 78-30 win over Headingley St Chad's.

Roundhay,whowere unbeaten in their opening two matches and who have a match in hand on Horsforth, are on eight points.
