Yarnbury 3rds showcased their skill and flair but came off second best against Ripon.

Yarnbury 3rds travelled to North Yorkshire to play a hastily arranged pool game against a strong mixed Ripon XV.

The prospect of playing a first team pitch is always good and gives a chance for the younger players to show their speed and skill.
Nature however has a way of spoiling all plans by allowing us to play in persistent rain and strong winds.

Ripon had the upper hand as their forwards were much bigger and played the conditions well. Yarnbury put up a brave fight and made Ripon work for their points.

The forwards tried to run the bigger Ripon forwards around the pitch and succeeded in making good ground and field position but could not turn this into points.

All players played remarkably well in the conditions, special mention should go to debutant hard tackling centre Mark Rodriguez and Joe Walsh who added a bit of speed to the pack.
