Yarnbury's mature team were led into the well supported Rockcliff 10's tournament by the evergreen Arthur Smith.
In the first game Yarnbury came up against a well drilled and determined Percy Park, and were narrowly beaten.

Unfortunately Yarnbury's Nick Clynes pulled a Hamstring and without the medical advise of fitness expert John Riley, Nick had to pull out of the tournament.

A big blow, as the pace of Clynes could have caused havoc amongst the opposition. Just when Club president Raymond Johnson was preparing to take the field, the cavalry turned up in the shape of Chris and Phil Wray, delayed by two and half hours due to a que at a Little Chef on the A1.

Both replacements featured in Yarnbury's next game, which was in the plate competition against a very experienced Orrell side, who were disappointed to have been knocked out of the main competition by Percy Park.

Injury struck again when young Robert Pound pulled a fetlock and was replaced by his father Mick who immediately took a tactical detour over the sideline when confronted with 90 metres of open land to the opposition line.

Yarnbury managed to get over the Orrell line in the shape Yarnbury's man of the tournament, Elis Gomersall.

Orrell with their constant interchanges run out comfortable winners.
