The Wooden Spoon is a registered charity with HRH Princess Royal as its patron helping underpriveledged children for the last 25 years.

The competition is a regional event with this year's round taking place at Bradford Golf Club in torrential rain.

Twenty clubs took part in a fourball stapleford competition with the top four to qualify.

Yarnbury have been in the final at Walton Heath Surrey for the last two years and their team of Steve Galbraith, Phil Smith, Alan Pirie and captain David Hornby just narrowly failed to qualify on 83 points.

Winners Cleckheaton made it through on 87 points with Huddersfield and Aireborough captained by Greg Marchbank going through to the final for the first time on 83 points.
