Yarnbury U-15s travelled to South Shields last weekend but found it difficult to breakdown a tough Westoe side.

The opening 20 mins were fairly even, both sides defending well and finding it difficult to break through.

Yarnbury were first on the score sheet, with a typical Tom Baxter drive being stopped millimetres short of the line and Daniel Burnside picking and touching down.

Daniel 'Golden Snitch' Pound had the distance but not the direction for the conversion attempt in the strong blustery and wet conditions.
Westoe hit back on the stroke of half time with a short lineout move, the conversion was also missed.

Playing up the slope in the second half, Yarnbury struggled to cope with the home team's half time changes and fell behind to two well-taken tries and a conversion.

To the tourists' credit they turned up the work rate, with Alex Teasdale taking a quick tap penalty following a strong forward drive catching the home team out.

But again, the Golden Snitch was unable to convert.
Yarnbury continued to pressure the Westoe line and were rewarded with a well taken try by Lloyd Cunningham who chased up a speculative box-kick from Teasdale.

That was his first try for the club in four seasons.

Joe Pinnick was asked to step up for the crucial conversion attempt as the referee had indicated there would be no more play after the kick, but the conditions proved too strong for his attempt.

Matthew Beardow was awarded Yarnbury Player of the Match.
